CloudEx Inc. ("we", "us", or "our") operates the iOS app "Business Card Manager Pro" (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the Service handles on iPhone and iPad, how we use it, and the choices available to you. By using the Service, you agree to the handling described in this policy.
1. Our Core Principle
Business Card Manager Pro scans business cards, reads their text, and organizes them as contacts. No account or sign-in is required, and your card data is stored on your device. We do not operate any server that receives your card data, and we never collect or store the following information:
- Images of your business cards and the text read from them
- The details printed on the cards, such as names, company names, phone numbers, email addresses, and addresses
- Customer-management information such as notes, tags, interaction history, and next contact dates
2. Scanning Cards and Reading Text
Cards are scanned with the document camera built into iOS, which finds the card edges and straightens the image. You can also choose photos with the iOS photo picker; the app receives only the photos you select and cannot see the rest of your photo library.
Text recognition (OCR) and the reading of QR codes printed on cards use Apple's Vision framework and run entirely on your device. Reading a card sends nothing: card images and the text read from them are not sent to us, to Apple, or to anyone else. Card data leaves your device only in the ways you choose, described in section 3.2.
Card images are kept in the app's private storage. They are not added to your Photos library.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information Collected Automatically
- Anonymous crash reports: Via Firebase Crashlytics. When the app crashes, or when an operation fails (such as reading a backup file or saving the card database), we collect technical information such as the stack trace, error details, device model, iOS version, and app version. This does not include your card data or any personally identifiable information.
- Purchase information: Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. The app uses the transaction information that the App Store provides on your device to verify your one-time Premium purchase. We never receive any payment information such as credit card numbers.
- List of our other apps: When the list of our other apps is shown, the app downloads the current list and its icons from our server. The request contains only what every web request contains, such as your IP address.
- Emails you send us: If you use "Contact us", your email app opens with the app version, iOS version, and device model filled in. Nothing is sent unless you send the email yourself. We then receive your email address and what you wrote.
3.2 Information Stored Only on Your Device
- Card data: Card images, the text read from them, card details, and customer-management information such as notes, tags, and interaction history are stored in the app's private storage on your device.
- App settings: Settings such as the recognition language, display, theme, notifications, and app lock, and whether Premium has been purchased.
- Widgets: With Premium, the names of the people you plan to contact and their next contact dates are kept in a storage area shared only with the app's own widgets on your device, so that the "people to contact today" widget can show them on your Home Screen or Lock Screen.
- Items shared to the app: Images, text, or vCard files you send to the app from the share sheet are placed in the app's own storage and are read when you next open the app, then deleted.
- Backups and exports: The app keeps up to 7 daily copies of your card details inside the app. If you choose a folder (such as one in iCloud Drive) for the daily backup, export to ZIP, vCard, or CSV, or share data, the data goes only to the place or person you choose.
- Device backup: If you use iCloud Backup or back up your device to a computer, iOS includes the app's data in that backup, which is stored in your own iCloud account or on your own computer. We have no access to these backups.
Everything in the app's storage is erased when you delete the app. Files you exported or saved elsewhere, and contacts you saved to the Contacts app, are not affected.
3.3 Information We Do Not Collect
- The contents of your contacts (the app never reads your contacts)
- Location information such as GPS coordinates
- Your call history, messages, calendar, or microphone
- Photos other than the ones you choose
- Your device's advertising identifier (IDFA); the app does not track you
3.4 Permissions the App Requests and Their Purposes
Business Card Manager Pro asks for iOS permissions only at the moment they are first needed, and uses them only for the stated purposes. If you do not allow a permission, the rest of the app keeps working.
- Camera — Used to scan business cards and QR codes. If you do not allow camera access, you can still add cards from photos.
- Contacts — Requested only when you save several cards to your contacts at once. Saving one card at a time opens the iOS "New Contact" screen, which does not need this permission. The app writes contacts only when you ask it to and never reads your contacts.
- Notifications — Used to remind you of next contact dates and birthdays (Premium). Reminders are scheduled on your device.
- Face ID — Used, if you turn on the app lock, to unlock the app with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. The app never receives your biometric data.
- Photos (add only) — Used only if you choose to save a card image or a QR code to your Photos library from the share sheet. This permission lets the app add photos; it does not let the app see your photo library.
The app uses the internet only to send the anonymous crash and error reports described above, to verify purchases with the App Store, to show this privacy policy, and to download the list of our other apps. Your card data is never sent.
4. How We Use Information
The limited information we collect is used only for the following purposes:
- Operating and maintaining the Service
- Verifying purchases
- Diagnosing and fixing crashes
- Responding to support inquiries
- Complying with applicable laws
5. Third-Party Services
Business Card Manager Pro uses the following third-party services. Each service has its own privacy policy, and we require that they protect the information they receive at least to the standard described in this policy.
- Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) — anonymous crash diagnostic data
- App Store (Apple Inc.) — processing of the one-time Premium purchase
Text recognition and the document camera are part of iOS and run on your device. We never sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising.
6. Data Retention
- Crash reports: retained for 90 days, then deleted.
- Data on your device: erased when you delete the app. Cards moved to the trash are deleted automatically after 30 days, and the app's daily copies are deleted oldest first once there are more than 7, so a card you delete may remain in those copies for up to 7 days.
7. International Data Transfers
We are based in Japan. The infrastructure used for crash diagnostics may be located in various countries. When you use the Service, the minimal information described above may be processed outside your country of residence under standard contractual safeguards.
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you reside (e.g., the EEA, UK, California, Japan), you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the limited information we hold, and to withdraw your consent. You can:
- Edit or delete your card data at any time in the app, and export it to ZIP, vCard, or CSV
- Delete the app to erase all the data it keeps on your device
- Turn off camera, contacts, notifications, Face ID, or photo access at any time in the iOS Settings app
- Contact us at the address below to make a request regarding the information we hold
9. Children's Privacy
Business Card Manager Pro is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age applicable in your region). If we inadvertently collect information from such a child, we will delete it promptly upon being contacted.
10. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The latest version is always published at this URL together with its effective date. We will also notify you within the app of significant changes where appropriate.
